I have always been inspired by the world around me, drawing since I could first hold a pencil. This has developed a sensitivity towards my subject matter, capturing the essence of who they really are.
The themes of many of my artworks are inspired by South Africa’s beauty, which for me, is reflected in its nature, people and diversity. I am also fascinated by the whimsical and twisted; drawing from personal experiences as well as observation.
I enjoy the process of art making and creating new images out of existing ones. Experiments with mixed media, drawing, painting, printmaking, crafts and on occasion digital art are enthusiastically performed.
Background – Michelle Siepker
I received a B-Tech in Fine Art at TUT in 1998, and have exhibited widely around the country. A highlight being selected as a finalist for the Sasol New Signatures competition where I sold my work; which now hangs in a museum in Belgium.
My journey in art have taken me from studio to classroom to share my knowledge and inspire young minds.
I took a short sabbatical to become a proud mother of a beautiful little girl who re-inspired me; by the dynamics of family and relationship between parent and child.
